IDEATION Launches First Newsletter Highlighting Key Milestones
The EU-funded project IDEATION released of its first-ever public newsletter, marking one year of significant progress toward integrating Europe’s inland waters into the Digital Twin Ocean ecosystem. The newsletter provides stakeholders and the public with a comprehensive overview of the project’s foundational achievements, including the release of its official video, the first version of its reference architecture, and the launch of a new knowledge hub.
IDEATION aims to prepare the development of a unified digital representation of the entire hydrosphere, a critical step in supporting the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters.” The project has made substantial strides in its first year, which are detailed in the newsletter.

First Reference Architecture: The completion of the 1st version of the Reference Architecture, a pivotal framework designed to ensure seamless interoperability between the Digital Twin for inland waters and the broader EU Digital Twin Ocean.

Launch of OpenKIWAS: The new Open Knowledge hub for Inland WaterS (OpenKIWAS) has been launched, serving as a vital inventory of regulatory, scientific, and technological resources.

Extensive Stakeholder Engagement: The project has successfully connected with 385 key stakeholders across 14 countries, fostering a collaborative network to advance innovative solutions for water management.

Strategic Analysis: A comprehensive SWOT analysis of potential Digital Twins for six types of inland water systems has been completed, providing crucial insights for future development.
