IDEATION Project Spotlights Vision for European Digital Twin for Inland Waters at Water Knowledge Europe 2025

The IDEATION project made a significant impact at the recent Water Knowledge Europe 2025 conference in Warsaw, showcasing its ambitious plans to develop a comprehensive roadmap for a Digital Twin for Inland Waters for the European Commission. Key project representatives presented IDEATION’s innovative approach and progress to a diverse audience of water sector professionals and stakeholders.

On May 14, during the main session of WKE2025, IDEATION Project Coordinator Eloisa Vargiu from Cetaqua – Water Technology Centre, delivered a compelling presentation. Ms. Vargiu outlined how IDEATION will provide the European Commission with a detailed roadmap, including a reference architecture, real-world use cases, and strategic recommendations. A crucial aspect highlighted was the future digital twin’s full interoperability with the European Digital Twin Ocean, aiming to create a unified, dynamic model of the European hydrosphere.

Further engagement occurred during the Water Europe Expert Group workshop on “Digital Water Systems and Management,” where Roberto Di Bernardo from Engineering Group presented IDEATION eu. The session, held on the first day of the conference, was well-attended and highly interactive, allowing the IDEATION team to gather valuable feedback from experts and participants.

The IDEATION consortium extends its gratitude to Water Europe for the opportunity to contribute to WKE2025 and to all participants for their active involvement and insightful contributions. The project is committed to fostering collaboration and innovation to advance Europe’s water resilience and digital leadership.
