IDEATION showcased at the WDSA/CCWI 2026 conference

At the WDSA/CCWI 2026 conference, IDEATION showcased a series of project results during the session “Leveraging Digital Twins to Deal with Climate Change”, moderated by IDEATION Coordinator Eloisa Vargiu.

The session highlighted key advancements developed within the project across governance, architecture, stakeholder engagement, co-creation methodologies, AI applications, and knowledge management for water systems.

  • Lydia Vamvakeridou-Lyroudia presented the project’s Technical Governance framework together with final recommendations for updating EU-level water policy and governance directives.
  • Georgina Díez remotely introduced the IDEATION Reference Architecture, with a focus on compliance with both EDITO and DestinE frameworks.
  • Andrea Rubini and Anais Baladah highlighted the importance of stakeholder engagement, drawing on experiences from the project’s Water-Oriented Living Labs.
  • Franco Crivello presented the outcomes of the co-creation process used to define IDEATION’s reference use cases across different water domains.
  • Gerasimos Antzoulatos introduced a methodological framework for the Technological Core Assessment of Digital Twin Systems in Inland Waters and presented ongoing work on leveraging Large Language Models for requirements mapping.
  • George Milis shared ongoing research on multi-AI-agent orchestration for the cyber-physical security of drinking water systems.
  • Finally, Dimitrios Kouzapas introduced OpenKIWAS (Open Knowledge Inventory for Inland Water Systems), including validation results provided by selected experts.
