New IDEATION Milestone: Final OpenKIWAS Inventory
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of a key project milestone: the final version of OpenKIWAS (Open Knowledge Inventory for Inland Water Systems).
Developed as part of the IDEATION project, OpenKIWAS serves as a comprehensive, structured foundation for the next generation of Digital Twin applications in inland water management. By systematically cataloguing regulatory, scientific, and technological data, OpenKIWAS bridges the gap between high-level policy and practical digital innovation.
What is OpenKIWAS?
It is a multidimensional inventory designed to support decision-makers, researchers, and developers. The final version includes six specialized catalogues:
- EU and international policies and standards for inland waters.
- Projects and information systems outputs.
- Scientific research results.
- Data models, AI technologies, simulations, and Digital Twins.
- Inland water open data and sensing sources.
- Data and services from national meteorological organizations.
Building on a Strong Foundation
This final release builds upon the preliminary work established in Deliverable D3.1, which mapped the initial policy and regulatory landscape. By utilising advanced methodologies, including Large Language Model (LLM) metadata analysis, the IDEATION team has ensured that OpenKIWAS is not just a static list, but a dynamic resource ready to support the IDEATION reference architecture and roadmap.
